I have been writing and recording songs since the mid 1980's. For the most part, I have managed to capture the sounds I was looking for, but once in a while I needed some magic that I didn't have.
I had a small collection of songs that I needed to be 'super-produced' and mastered that I didn't feel I could get right after a few attempts. Some of those songs were 30 years old and I could never release them as they were. One in particular, Starving Artist Club (c1993), which I consider the most important song I had ever written, had gone through 4 previous recording attempts over 29 years, without ever quite getting to the stage it needed to be.
At that point, I rememberd that Dave Filchak had recorded songs for myself and my band in the 1990's, and the sounds were always stellar. I reached out to Dave and asked if he would produce a handful of songs for me, and that I would let him work his magic and listen to what he had to say about my songs and the approach he would take to produce them.
After several months of laying tracks, some arrangements altered, and solid recording sessions, I finally got the sound I was looking for, all due to Dave's producing style, which included how to play certain parts to be most effective, how to make minor changes to my own arrangements and how to 'get the spit out' on vocals for some of the newer song ideas.
Not only did I get some world class recordings of some of my most cherished song ideas, I also got a super producer, a session player of guitar, bass, keys, vocals (and some magic subtleties), and a mastering engineer who prepared every track for release in the right way, from LUFS to meta tags to IRSC codes.
Dave is truly a one stop shop from concept, to arrangements, to tracking, mixing, mastering, and professional preparation for release. Add to that Sandy Roelcke's brilliant graphic design skills, which helped me make the album cover and artwork for my release.
Got some songs to get produced with world class sound, and guided every step of the way? Talk to Dave Filchak!
